Genuine enlightenment is free of any attachments. If you have attachments, no matter how subtle or sublime they are, you will continue to have problems with the things you see, hear or think about. Experiences with attachments can only be false enlightenment. Relying on your own distorted judgment can lead to problems. Therefore, it is necessary to have a teacher who can judge your experience and determine if it is genuine or false.
