In Buddhism, meditation always has an interpersonal dimension. It’s not just a personal thing or an intra-psychic activity. It is inter-psychic insofar as even though the meditation practice is geared towards self-transformation, the self-transformation is supposed to then become manifest in how one conducts one’s life and how one interacts with others and so on – especially from the Mahayana point of view, self and other are not totally separate. If everything is interconnected, everything is dependently arising, so we cannot leave others out. That cannot be done.
