Right from the beginning, we have to realise that from the Buddhist point of view emotions have to be distinguished from feelings. Emotions also have to be seen not purely in terms of physiological states and processes. Emotions relate to how we appraise situations, how we appraise ourselves, our own self-conceptions and our interpretations of various events, facts, situations that we encounter on a daily basis.
