For an infinite number of lifetimes I have had mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, teachers, friends, spouses, daughters, and sons.
They have cried more tears for my sake than could fill one hundred million oceans.
Is it not right for them now to be comfortable? Is it not right for them now to be happy?
I must establish all in unsurpassable comfort and happiness.

The strangers and my enemies; the animals on land, water, and air;
the hungry ghosts; the gods and demigods —
from the highest heavens to the lowest hells,
in this world and the great trichiliocosm,
wherever space pervades and universes rise —
all beings have been my mothers, have cared for me,
and have protected me from copious harm.

I am indebted. My heart swells up with affection and gratitude.
May all beings, my mothers, be content! May they be happy!
I will establish them in unsurpassable comfort and happiness.
